Alex Riedman
Where are you from, when did you begin skiing and telemarking, and where do you ski most now?
I grew up in southwestern Pennsylvania, skiing at Seven Springs. My parents had me on skis at 11 months old! I started telemark skiing in 2007, earning PSIA Level 1 and Level 2 Telemark certifications and competing in the Telemark Big Mountain Series and recently in the FWQ Freeride Series.
What do you love about telemarking?
I love expressing myself through sport, applying conscious movement to interact with the earth beneath us. Flowing through trees and carving turns on telemark skis connects me to the mountains in a dynamic way, experiencing the sensational feelings that gravity provides!
What do you like about our bindings?
22 Designs telemark bindings are the gold standard in our industry. As an AXL alumni and current Lynx and Outlaw user, I love the reliability and stability that 22 Designs bindings provide!
What do you like to do for fun when you’re not skiing?
When not skiing, I love to be outside and adventure, mountain biking, bike touring and traveling, and hanging out with my rescue dog Buddy. I'm very active with Crested Butte Mountain Rescue, serving as a mission coordinator and rapid avalanche deployment rescuer. I also own and operate a youth mountain biking and outdoor education program CB Mountain Mentors. Working as a professional bike and ski coach, I'm rewarded daily seeing my students accomplish their goals and sharing my love of good snow and flowy trails!
