Who are you anyway?

22 Designs is the world leader in telemark bindings, thanks to years of laser focus on tele innovation.

The company was founded in 2004 by Chris Valiante and Collins Pringle, when we inherited the HammerHead binding from Rainey Designs. We introduced the acclaimed free-pivot Axl binding in 2009, then the Vice. The Outlaw X is the world's first step-in NTN binding, and the first with a true free pivot. Our newest binding, the Lynx, is a tech-toe light touring telemark binding, a beast in the backcountry.

Our company is named for Wyoming Highway 22, which travels over Teton Pass. This area has become one of the most popular backcountry skiing spots in the country, but remains one of our favorite spots to shred.

Both Chris and Collins are telemark skiers and mechanical engineers, and are dedicated to producing the best telemark bindings in the world. Our focus is to constantly pursue new ideas to produce bindings that exceed the expectations of our customers.

We strive to be an environmentally conscious company. Every binding that we produce is made in the USA with the most durable materials and designed to last a lifetime. In 2021, we installed a rooftop solar array which covers 100% of our annual production, R&D, and office electric usage.  In 2020, we joined both the Outdoor Industry Association's Climate Action Corps, and the Snowsports Industry Association's ClimateUnited in an effort to significantly reduce our products' carbon emissions.

Our 2021 estimated Greenhouse Gas emissions were 104mt CO2e, or about 14kg per binding.  Our science-aligned physical intensity reduction target is 7kg per binding by 2030.  With the installation of our solar array, we already achieved our Scope 2 emissions reduction target, and the array provided 92% of our electricity usage in 2023.  Our Scope 3 targets will be more challenging, but we're committed to meeting our goal.
