Where are you from, when did you begin skiing and telemarking, and where do you ski most now?
I grew up and started skiing on Mt. Rainier at Crystal Mountain in Washington. My family later moved to Colorado where I grew up skiing the Front Range mountains. The last few years I have pursued Telemark skiing based out of Winter Park, bringing modern telemarking to the Front Range, and traveling around skiing out of my homemade camper rig.
I was fortunate to grow up in a telemark household, and so started telemarking young. When I was 7, I was lucky enough to fit into the smallest pair of Scarpa T2’s my parents could find. Paired with a dynamic pair of Super Loop bindings, I haven’t been able to pick these knees up since.
What do you love about telemarking?
I love telemarking because it brings a presence to me. When I drop a knee the world seems to stop. The fluidity of the turn and the flow and balance of dropping a knee just fires me right up.
What do you like about our bindings?
22 Designs is the only Telemark binding company that I have rode that has masterfully paired flow with power. I like my bindings with a little more “kick” than most, and every pair of 22 bindings I've hopped on have allowed me to crank my bindings to find the perfect balance of performance and juju.
What do you like to do for fun when you’re not skiing?
I am a pretty active person, in my off season I spend my time playing Ultimate frisbee, Mountain Biking, hacky sacking, seshing with friends, cribbage, and crushing karaoke solos.
