Where are you from, when did you begin skiing and telemarking, where do you ski most now?I am from Talkeetna, Alaska and I started nordic skiing when I was 4, I did not start tele skiing until I was around 20. I was too busy xc-ski racing, but I finished that up when I started school in Reno during Tahoe's epic snow year of 98-99. Most of my ski years have been Tahoe with some recent quality time in my home state of AK. What are your favorite boots and skis?Scarpa T-Race have done me well for the past handful of years and the last two winters I have skied on a pair of Dynastar Legend Pros, and without a doubt when paired with some HammerHeads they are hard to beat. What do you like about HammerHeads?
What do you like to do for fun when you’re not skiing?Fly-fishing for Rainbows, floating down big, glacial rivers in a raft throwing back PBR all day, Mt. Biking and getting crazy on the dance floor. Accomplishments, awards, and sponsorAm currently managing a successful rafting company with plans to take over and become a legitimate professional seasonal worker that has time and money to ski his brains out all winter! Matt is a badass skier from Alaska. We're always jealous of his latest story about catching some monster Rainbow or the nonstop snowfall he brags about. He says he skis with his cable guides in Kama-Sutra position 5.
They are hands down indestructible. The same pair I bought six years ago continues to get skied and nothing has ever gone wrong. That should speak for itself, but mostly for me it's the feeling of utter confidence that when I drop a knee at high speed through even the most inconsistent snow, the stiff, long travel spring paired with a pivot point that sits (4-5) far enough back keeps my ski glued to the ground. I started consistently moving my pivot points for the first time this year when I skinned and thought the system worked very efficiently. NEW free pivot bindings?
