HammerHead & BombShellReplacing the CableTools needed: 1/8" allen wrench, medium flat-head screwdriver, large screwdriver of any kind, channel-lock pliers, beer.
First, remove both cable guides from the binding.
Unscrew the coils from the heel tube.
Unscrew the machine screw in the spreader with an 1/8" allen wrench.
Pull the coils apart to pop out the inside spreader.
Slide a medium size flat-head screwdriver into the outside spreader. Use a screwdriver that won't open it more than necessary when vertical. The optimum blade width is 9/32", or just over 1/4". The blade will need to be at least this wide.
Twist to open up the spreader.
Slide the coils to the middle and pull the spreader off.
Grab the cables right behind the head and shove them forward.
Pull the cable through a few more inches.
Using a large screwdriver, pound on each side of the orange anchor to tap it forward.
Pull the anchor out with pliers if needed. Remove it. The cable should now slide right out. Reverse the directions to install the new cable. You'll want to use channel-lock pliers to squeeze the orange inside spreader into the blue outside spreader before installing the screw and nut:
