FAQ'sHere are your answers...Q: How much do your bindings weigh?A: HammerHeads are now a bit lighter than the original model, at 3.1 lbs or 1390g per pair, including heel plates and climbing bails. BombShells are 3 lbs or 1370g. Axls weigh 3.9 lbs per large pair, and 3.7 for size small. LiteDogs weigh 1.75 lbs or 800g per pair. Q: Do the Axls have the same hole pattern and pin line as the HammerHeads?A: The bindings have the same mounting pattern. The only difference is that Axls put your boot's pin line two-tenths of an inch further back. So if mounting Axls with a HammerHead Jig or template, move it .2" forward on the ski. If you're mounting Axls on existing HH holes, you will not be able to tell the difference .2" makes. Q: Can I mount your bindings on K2 or Voile Skis with inserts?A: Yes. For HammerHeads and BombShells, we have an insert adapter plate available if you want to use the inserts. However, you can also mount them by drilling and mounting as you would on any other ski. The HammerHead's mounting pattern is the strongest around, so there's no need to worry about bindings ripping out. The screws that come with the plates are sized for the HammerHeads, not the Axls. If you want to mount Axls, again we recommend drilling, but if you want to use the plates you'll need to buy shorter M6 screws and possibly grind the screw heads down. Q: What do you recommend for a backcountry repair kit?A: Nothing! There are no parts that are likely to break and leave you stranded. To move your HammerHead cable guides or Axl slic pin, you will need a simple tool to depress the spring button. Some skiers who remove their HammerHead cable guides entirely (position 0) like to buy a spare in case they lose one. Q: Do your bindings release?A: The HammerHead, BomsShell, and Axl are not releasable bindings. However, they often release in a big fall, and they can be made to release easier in some falls by grinding down and rounding the duckbill of your telemark boot back to the pin holes. But we make no promise for our bindings to release under any circumstances, and it is possible to be injured in a fall when skiing our bindings. Q: How high do your bindings put you off the ski? Are risers available?A: HammerHeads have a rise of 23mm or just over 7/8". Axls are 1.1" or 28mm at rear, with a 2 degree ramp. LiteDogs have a rise of about 31mm or 1 1/4" under the boot's bellows. Risers are not available. With the amount of control that HammerHeads provide risers really aren't necessary, and the 'dogs and Axls are plenty high. Q: Where should I mount my bindings?A: You should contact the ski manufacturer to see what they recommend for a mounting location if one is not provided. We also have some suggestions on the mounting instructions, but please don’t call us to ask where you should mount your 183 Gotamas with size 26.5 T1s for skiing powder in trees in Colorado – we don’t know. Q: What range of boot sizes do your bindings fit?A: LiteDogs fit all sizes, HammerHeads fit down to about 22.5, and BombShells fit up to about 27. Large Axls are intended for boots 26 and and up, Smalls for 25 and less. Q: Can you send me some stickers???A: Yes, please send us a self-addressed stamped envelope and we'll return it to you with a bunch of stickers. Mail it to the address below, attn: Stickers Please. |
